What: An introductory course for floral entrepreneurs who dream of effortlessly writing authentic content across all of their platforms. Gain some essential writing strategies to make it easier to communicate your thoughts, feelings, ideas and artistry.
Break free all the objections, hurdles and roadblocks that prevent you from writing with ease and confidence!
You and your point of view are unique and unlike anyone else's. And you want to communicate your thoughts, feelings, ideas and artistry to your customers, clients and follower. But the old script keeps playing: I'm not a writer. I hate to write. Writing is hard. I have nothing unique to say.
Those phrases are barriers you can definitely overcome. Otherwise, you may continue to feel stuck, in a rut, or (like I used to feel) waste too much time agonizing over what to say, not to mention be frustrated by a limited vocabulary of the same words repeated time and again.
The upside is vastly better than the downside!
"Writing Avoidance" won't get you where you want to be. It's tempting to blog and post the same types of content everyone else is sharing. It's easy to post images without descriptions, leaving out the important context that communicates you, your values and your brand.
NOT writing won't get you where you want to be - that's for sure.
While it can be hard to get started, the time you invest in strengthening (or tuning up) your writing muscles will be richly rewarded.
Join me and find a better way to communicate your ideas
In this introductory creative writing course, I want to give you skills and confidence to write with ease. I’m not turning you into a journalist or a novelist overnight – that takes years and some would argue, a lifetime. But it is my goal to equip you with some essential writing strategies to make it easier to communicate your thoughts, feelings, ideas and artistry.
Why are words important?
There was a definite pain point in my writing career – when I was starting out I landed a junior editor position at Seventeen Magazine with only college newspaper reporter experience in my back pocket. I had to learn quickly and be a sponge. I read voraciously and I suggest you do the same. Read and take note of industry rock stars, influencers and floral authors whose work you admire. My first breakthrough happened when I adopted a more literary approach to how I described flowers, foliage and other botanicals, a method that countless other journalists have used. Second, I simply did not want to be limited to using only a narrow list of words over and over again. And third, I realized that sharing my observations and experiences is powerful. I call my approach Floral Storytelling. We are all in the relationship business, which means it's so personal.
Writing is Storytelling. Storytelling is Personal. Personal Stories Connect with Universal Themes.
My goal is to share my successful writing process and an awesome toolbox of words and methods -- all to free you to be a more confident communicator.
Let's build a floral storytelling toolbox that you can use, again and again!
Having a set of floral storytelling tools allows you to design a “bouquet of words” – words that enhance the visuals that your audience sees. If you’re like me, once you find a useful new word that describes exactly what you feel about a color, flower, landscape or the seasons, you will not only add it to your toolbox, but you’ll feel empowered and more confident in the writing you use in your creative enterprise.
As you gather words to create a floral vocabulary that reflects you and your aesthetic, you’ll find that you save time agonizing over “what to say” – and that savings translates into money as you leverage your newfound confidence and expanded writing skills to better express your ideas, your aesthetic and the way you see the world.
You will communicate more effectively and that translates into enhanced, on-point messaging and gives you a more natural way to convey a mood or emotion rather than just selling a “product” with a price tag.
